Radiation Oncology

Radiation oncology services at Northwest Hospital are provided by the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). SCCA Radiation Oncology at Northwest Hospital serves adults who need radiation therapy for any primary cancer, including breast, colon, lung, prostate and other cancers.

Among other advanced equipment, the center features a new Elekta Synergy linear accelerator. It is the world’s first fully digital radiation therapy treatment system with integrated 3-D imaging, enabling clinicians to see a tumor at the very moment of treatment. This results in more accurate targeting of radiation to treat the cancer, but spare more healthy tissue and reduce side effects. The facility also has GE, 16-slice, wide bore CT scanner to assist in radiation therapy planning.

SCCA Radiation Oncology at Northwest Hospital strives to provide well-coordinated care for every patient. We work closely with physicians throughout the Puget Sound area, including the medical oncologists at Puget Sound Cancer Centers, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and other specialists and primary care physicians at Northwest Hospital. Patients benefit from the ongoing collaboration among Northwest Hospital’s cancer specialists, who meet frequently to discuss and evaluate cases and develop integrated care plans.

Cancer patients at Northwest Hospital receive radiation therapy from our leading radiation oncology team who specialize in particular cancers and are experts in their field. They design an individualized treatment plan to target your tumor and minimize the effects of radiation therapy on healthy tissue. Your team also works closely with you to manage any side effects and helps you take the best possible care of yourself during treatment.

Depending on your diagnosis, your care team may also coordinate and schedule your treatment at other SCCA facilities, including the central SCCA clinic or at the University of Washington Medical Center. All SCCA facilities feature state-of-the-art equipment to ensure patients are getting the best treatment available, including a wide range of radiation therapy services. We also offer many of the latest and most innovative options through clinical trials.
